Nitrous Oxide
Often referred to as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is the most common form of dental sedation. It’s administered through a small mask that we place over your nose, taking effect almost immediately as you breathe it in.
Nitrous oxide doesn’t put you to sleep, but you’ll feel a wave of euphoria spread through your body that will help you relax in the dental chair. The sedation effects can also be reversed right away, so you can drive yourself home from your appointment.
IV Sedation
For IV sedation, Dr. Abedini will administer a liquid sedative directly into your bloodstream. The medication takes effect within seconds, helping you relax almost immediately. Dr. Abedini will carefully monitor your vital signs throughout the treatment to ensure your safety.
As with the other sedation methods, you won’t lose consciousness during the procedure, but you’ll have little to no memory of it happening. Since the effects of IV sedation may linger for an hour or two after treatment, you’ll need a responsible adult to drive you home.
